About Angie
My name is Angelina Festa, and as an illustrator I hope to inspire others. I feel that that art can be helpful especially to those who are deemed as different to society. Oftentimes many people today find themselves struggling with the challenges of life. I process these challenges by creating art of characters or subjects that portray the same feelings that I have. When I make art that has a meaning behind it, it turns out better than my work without meaning.
My art ranges from smooth edges to sharp and harsh lines. It can be very detailed or a simple doodle to make someone smile. An example of an art piece I made with emotion is Mourning Routine. Mourning Routine is a painting I made during the fall of 2023. I was struggling with depression and anxiety at the time, and I made the piece to express my struggles. The painting has harsh cross hatching on the face and hands and uses contrast between the figure and the bright background. The eyes are exaggerated to give the viewer a sense of dread and exhaustion.
Creating art has been a staple of my life. By creating more pieces like Mourning Routine is proof that I am able to get through these difficult times and continue working on myself. I hope I can continue to use my art to cope with life and inspire others to do the same.
